Yummy southern sausage gravy. I used bacon grease as a substitute for lard.

Recipe Ingredients for Southern Sausage Gravy

16 oz breakfast sausage
4 tbsp lard
5 tbsp flour
2 1/4 cups milk
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Recipe Directions for Southern Sausage Gravy

  1. Over medium heat in a large deep pan, fry sausage and crumble as it cooks.

  2. Remove sausage with slotted spoon.

  3. Heat lard in same skillet. Add flour and mix until smooth and bubbling.

  4. Slowly stir in milk until mixture is smooth. Add back in sausage.

  5. Continue cooking and stirring until mixture sets up. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve over biscuits.
