Great recipe! Wonderful. Serve warm with peanut butter on top if you dare (add the peanut butter to the count).

Recipe Ingredients for Southern Living Banana Apple Bread

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup granny smith apple
1 cup bananas
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions for Southern Living Banana Apple Bread

  1. Cream shortening, then add sugar, beating well.

  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  3. Stir in the apples and bananas.

  4. Combine flour, soda, and salt, then add to creamed mixture, sturring just to mix together.

  5. Spoon batter into creased & floured 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan.

  6. bake at 350 for 60 mins, or until wooden pick comes out clean.

  7. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove.

  8. Serve with peanut butter (add calories to count) if desired.
