Spicy twist on an old favorite. This has been a family secret for years. If you just have to have lasagna but don't want to pay to badly, try this one out!

Recipe Ingredients for Southern Lasagna

2 pkg fat free cream cheese
8 oz. Jalapeno Salsa
8 oz. Lasagna noodles
52 oz. Spaghetti sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 lb hamburger meat

Recipe Directions for Southern Lasagna

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cook noodles according to packaging directions.

  3. Brown and drain hamburger meat in large skillet. Set aside.

  4. Combine spaghetti sauce and jalapeno salsa in sauce pan. Add additional seasoning to taste. (I usually just add garlic.) Add browned hamburger meat. Let simmer.

  5. Spread some meat sauce on bottom of 13x9x2 pan.

  6. Layer noodles, sauce, and slices of cream cheese, repeat until pan is full making sure that noodles are covered with sauce for the top layer.

  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

  8. Take foil off and top with mozzarella cheese. Let cheese melt and brown slightly.

  9. Let stand about 5-8 minutes before plating.

  10. Serve with salad and low fat or fat free dressing to complete the meal!
