Recipe Ingredients for Southern Homestyle Low Sodium FRIED Catfish

1 1/2 pounds catfish fillets
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup canola oil

Recipe Directions for Southern Homestyle Low Sodium FRIED Catfish

  1. Combine milk and pepper.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and paprika.

  3. Next, dip fish in milk mixture and roll in flour mixture. Pour 1/4 cup of oil or about 1/2 inch of oil in a heavy skillet.

  4. Fry fish in high fat for 4 minutes. Turn carefully and fry 4 minutes longer or until fish is brown and flakes slightly when touched with a fork.
