An easy and delicious biscuit recipe.

Recipe Ingredients for Southern Homemade Biscuits

9 1/4 ounces all purpose flour
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 cup 1% milk
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 ounce butter
2 tablespoons shortening

Recipe Directions for Southern Homemade Biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Combine milk and lime juice and place in refrigerator to chill.

  3. Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl.

  4. Using your fingers, quickly crumble the butter and shortening in with the dry ingredients until it resembles crumbs.

  5. Make a well in the center of mixture.

  6. Pour milk mixture and combine until dough just sticks together. Dough will be sticky.

  7. Pour dough on to generously floured surface.

  8. Dust top of dough with flour and fold dough 8 - 10 times.

  9. Roll to 1 inch thickness and cut biscuits out with cutter.

  10. Place on baking sheet with edges touching.

  11. Bake in preheated 450*F oven for 15 - 20 minutes.
