1/2 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups almond milk
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoons canola oil

Recipe Directions for Southern biscuits

Mix and sift the first five ingredients. Melt shortening, mix with milk and then mix it into the flour with a spatula, being careful not to overwork. Scoop out nine large balls with a spoon. Place the tablespoon of flour in a bowl, gently roll the balls in the flour. Try to handle the balls very gently, as little as possible. Place into pan greased with one tablespoon oil. Turn each biscuit over so each has oil on the top and bottom. Use the remaining tablespoon to drizzle over the top of biscuits. Bake at 450 for around 20 minutes. makes about 9 biscuits.
