Southern legumes not to be confused with 'creamed peas'. Subsituting turkey bacon may reduce fat but you might need to then add oil to sautee the onions and garlic. My favorite legume. More tender than purple hull peas but smooth and firm, not mushy.

6 serving lady cream peas
2 clove Garlic
1 cup, chopped Onions
3 serving Bacon Lower Sodium

Recipe Directions for Souther Syle Lady Cream Peas

  1. Saute 3 slices bacon, one onion, and clove of garlic until union is translucent. Add one pound shelled lady cream peas and cover with water at least 1/2" over peas. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer until peas are done roughly sixty to ninty minutes.
