Recipe Ingredients for Sour Cream Pound Cake

1 cup butter
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
3 cups plain flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup light sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla

Recipe Directions for Sour Cream Pound Cake

Mix baking soda into sour cream and place to the side. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar, adding one egg (room temperature) at a time until well blended. Add flour and sour cream to mixture alternately. Add the vanilla. You may substitute will almond extract. Tap bottom of pan to get air bubbles out. Pour into greased and floured pan. Place in cool oven and bake at 300 degrees until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cooking time varies dependent on oven (1 hour to 1 1/2 hours). Cool in pan 15 minutes on wire rack. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.
