Recipe Ingredients for Sour Cream Coffee Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips (semisweet)

Recipe Directions for Sour Cream Coffee Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Butter a 9-inch square cake pan.

  3. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  4. In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup of the granulated sugar, the brown sugar, and cinnamon.

  5. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat together butter and remaining 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy.

  6. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  7. Beat in vanilla.

  8. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, etc.) into the batter alternating with the sour cream.

  9. Pour half the batter into the cake pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon and sugar mixture and the raisins.

  10. Add the remaining batter and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

  11. Top with chocolate chips.

  12. Bake in the middle of the oven until a tester comes out clean, 45-50 minutes. Cool completely before removing cake from pan.
