A tastey rendition of a sugar cookie

Recipe Ingredients for Snickerdoodles

1/4 c margarine (softened)
1/4 c shortening
3/4 c sugar
1 egg (beaten)
1 1/2 c flour (sifted)
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar (for coating)
1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)

Recipe Directions for Snickerdoodles

  1. Preheat oven to 400*F

  2. Mix together softened margarine, shortening and sugar with an electric mixer in a large mixing bowl

  3. Beat egg in a small bowl so the yolk and white are mixed well, add to the other mixture

  4. Sift and re-measure the flour

  5. Add the cream of tartar, baking soda and salt to the flour and mix

  6. Add the flour mixture, a little at a time, to the egg/sugar/margarine/shortening mixture and beat until well combined

  7. Mix the cinnamon and sugar for the coating in a small bowl

  8. Roll dough into 1" balls and coat with the cinnamon and sugar mixture

  9. Place on the baking sheet, about 2 inches apart

  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown
