A New England favorite, these large, crinkly-topped sugar co0kies are probably German in origin.

Recipe Ingredients for Snickerdoodle

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 pound unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp ground cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Snickerdoodle

  1. 350˚ oven

  2. Sift together dry ingredients.

  3. Beat on medium speed until very fluffy and well blended 1/2 pound butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar.

  4. Add and beat until well combined 2 large eggs.

  5. Stir in flour mixture.

  6. 1 1/4 inch balls.

  7. Roll in cinnamon sugar.

  8. Space 2 3/4 inches apart.

  9. Bake 8 to 11 minutes.
