Down south, this is comfort food, served w/homemade buttermilk biscuits. This is why I'm fat!!!

Recipe Ingredients for Smothered Steak and Gravy

1 lbs of steak
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1/2 onion - white and green
2 cup of water

Recipe Directions for Smothered Steak and Gravy

  1. Season steak to taste, and flour. Add vegetable oil to hot skillet and brown steak to nice golden brown color.

  2. Remove steak and drain excess oil, keeping the drippings from the meat. Add 2 tbsp. butter and flour. Stir mixture constantly until browned. Add onions and lightly saute, until transparent.

  3. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, constantly stirring for approximately 5 minutes. Lower heat to medium heat, add steak and let continue to cook until gravy thickens.
