Recipe Ingredients for Smothered Okra

1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp margarine
1 cup okra, sliced
1 cup tomatoes, peeled and chooped
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne

Recipe Directions for Smothered Okra

  1. In a large skillet cook onion, green pepper, and garlic in margerine or butter until tender, about 5 minutes.

  2. Stir in okra, tomatoes, salt, pepper and cayenne.

  3. ring to boil, reduce to simmer and simmer for 20-30 minutes, until okra is tender.
