Smokey Collard Greens Recipe

Collards with a smokey flavor. (Reminds me of the southern style greens my grandmother made with bits of leftover ham or pork.)

Recipe Ingredients for Smokey collard greens

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic
2 pounds collard greens - rinsed, trimmed and chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons vinegar
1 tablespoon liquid smoke

Recipe Directions for Smokey collard greens

  1. Saute onions and garlic in olive oil.

  2. Add greens and just cover with water.

  3. Add remaining ingredients.

  4. Bring to simmer and cook for approx 30-45 minutes.
