Based on a recipe by Giada DeLaurentiis from Food Network, I just shrank serving size and subtracted the Italian sausage.

Recipe Ingredients for Smashed Pea Pasta

6 oz whole wheat pasta
1/2 c frozen peas
1 clove garlic
1 tsp basil
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/4 c part skim ricotta cheese

Recipe Directions for Smashed Pea Pasta

  1. cook pasta according to directions

  2. meanwhile in a medium skillet, heat oil and add minced garlic clove when hot. Stir in THAWED peas after about 2 minutes. Smash peas with back of a wooden spoon and then fold in ricotta cheese. Turn off heat

  3. Add cheese mixture to drained pasta and add about 1/4 C pasta water so its not too thick.

  4. enjoy!

  5. lots of calories but you can slim it down even more by getting low fat ricotta.
