Typically served with mashed potatoes & applesauce. This is an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch recipe. This is customarily served on New Years Day for good luck.

Recipe Ingredients for Slow Cooker Pork and Sauerkraut

5 lb pork roast
4 cups sauerkraut
1/4 cup brown sugar

Recipe Directions for Slow Cooker Pork and Sauerkraut

  1. Place pork roast in slow cooker, cut if neccessary.

  2. Pour sauerkraut (4 cups should be about 2 cans) & liquid over pork.

  3. Measure brown sugar & sprinkle on top.

  4. Cook on high for 1 hour then turn heat to low for 5-6 hours.
