This warm and hearty stew is an aromatic welcome after a long day. Serve with sautéed snow peas or steamed edamame. Even if you don't have time to marinate the ingredients overnight, keep in mind that the stew will still be delicious.

Recipe Ingredients for SLOW COOKER HOISIN BEEF STEW

1/2 cup beef broth
5 ounce hoisin sauce
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbs ginger, grated
1 1/2 pounds top round steak, lean
2 yellow onions, roughly chopped
1 cup carrots
1 cup celery
1 cup brown rice

Recipe Directions for SLOW COOKER HOISIN BEEF STEW

  1. Whisk together broth, hoisin, hot sauce, garlic and ginger in a wide, shallow dish or bowl. Add beef, onions, carrots and celery and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  2. Transfer meat mixture to a slow cooker, add rice, cover and cook on a low setting until beef is very tender, 6 to 8 hours. Alternately, cook on a high setting for about 3 hours. Ladle into bowls and serve.
