first attempt at a slow cooker beef stew

Recipe Ingredients for slow cooker beef stew

2 1/2 lbs chuck roast
3 lbs golden potatoes
2 med onions
3 stalk celery
1 lb baby carrots
3 c beef broth
1/5 c flour
2 tblsp Worcestershire sauce
1 serving red cooking wine

Recipe Directions for slow cooker beef stew

  1. layer potatoes and rest of the vegetables on the bottom of the slow cooker (7.5 quart)

  2. coat beef chunks (cut into 1 in pieces) in flour and any other season (salt, garlic powder, paprika, pepper, etc)) and put on top. May consider browning in pan with flour, but may be unnecessary.

  3. 3 cups of beef stock and a little bit of red cooking wine, along with worcesertshire sauce

  4. Think about adding a little bit of tomato paste to the liquid if desired. I used whole can of crushed tomato and was to tomato-y.

  5. Add seasoning to taste such as pepper, basil, oregano, thyme

  6. Cook on low for ~10-12 hours

  7. If like it thicker, remove a little bit of the liquid and mix in cornstarch, and mix back into slow cooker. Remove lid and cook on hi for another 30-60 mins
