I have a flatmate who'll only eat corned beef cooked in Ginger Beer... Although it's a nice change... One can reduce calories by using just water.

Recipe Ingredients for Slow Cooked Corned Beef in Ginger Beer

1 kg Corned Beef
1 1/4 l ginger beer
2 onions
4 stalks celery
1 tbsp nutmeg
1 tbsp pepper
2 cups cabbage
2 cups green beans
8 potatoes
3 tbsp milk
2 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp pepper

Recipe Directions for Slow Cooked Corned Beef in Ginger Beer

  1. Set Slow Cooker to Low.

  2. Pour in Ginger Beer, add onions and celery.

  3. Trim as much fat as you can off of the beef. And rub with nutmeg and pepper.

  4. Place beef into Slow Cooker and leave on Low for 8-10 hours.

  5. Before serving steam beans and sliced cabbage.

  6. Peel and boil potatoes until mashable. Mash with milk, mustard and pepper. Whisk to make smooth and fluffy.

  7. Serve with honey mustard, or mustard sauce - if that's your thing!
