Recipe Ingredients for Sloppy Lentils

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon chilli powder
2 4/5 servings lentils
14 1/2 ounces crushed tomatoes
3 cups water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 salt
1 pepper

Recipe Directions for Sloppy Lentils

  1. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add onion and pepper, cover and cook 5 minutes until soft.

  3. Add chilli powder, stir to coat.

  4. Transfer mixture to slow cooker.

  5. Add remaining ingredients (1.5 cups rinsed dried lentils).

  6. Stir.

  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Cook on low for 8 hours.

  9. Serve on toasted buns.
