Recipe Ingredients for Sloppy Joes on Whole Wheat Buns

1 pound ground beef, extra lean
1 large onion
4 cloves garlic
2 stalks celery
2 tbsp chili powder
2 cups kidney beans, cooked, drained, rinsed
4 oz tomato paste (1 small can)
3 cups diced tomatoes, canned
6 whole wheat hamburger buns

Recipe Directions for Sloppy Joes on Whole Wheat Buns

  1. Chop onions, celery, and garlic

  2. Saute vegetables with ground beef

  3. Add tomato paste and 3 cans of water

  4. Drain water off kidney beans

  5. Add chili powder, kidney beans, and diced tomatoes to skillet

  6. Cook on medium low heat for 20 minutes to blend the flavors

  7. Serve on whole wheat hamburger buns with side salad
