Serving size =about 1 1/2 cups Sloppy Joe on a bun Cooking Time = 30 Minutes This recipe can be multiplied by 2, 3, 4, 5. This recipe makes great leftovers. Reheat gently.

Recipe Ingredients for Sloppy Joes

1/2 tsp olive oil
1/2 red onion (diced)
1/2 strip celery (diced)
1/2 carrot (peeled and diced)
1/2 green bell pepper (diced)
1/2 lb beef , ground, 95%
1/2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp paprika
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 dash fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
3/4 cups water
2 rolls, Arnold sandwich thins

Recipe Directions for Sloppy Joes

  1. Place the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, celery, carrot and bell pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.

  2. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until it is browned.

  3. Add the vinegar, Worcestershire, paprika, tomato paste, pepper and water. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally.

  4. Serve over lightly toasted hamburger buns.
