Leached much of this comfort food's saturated fat by rinsing the ground beef after draining & browning.

Recipe Ingredients for Sloppy Joes

2 pounds lean ground beef
3/4 c. ketchup
1 T. yellow mustard
1/2 t. black pepper
1 t. celery seed

Recipe Directions for Sloppy Joes

  1. Boil 1-2 quarts water.

  2. Brown ground beef.

  3. Drain, then rinse with boiling water.

  4. Add ketchup, mustard, celery seed and pepper.

  5. Simmer for about 20 minutes, until thickened.

  6. Serve ~1/4 c. on a hamburger buns. Great reheated either on stove or in microwave for packed lunches.
