This is a delicious homemade soup.

Recipe Ingredients for Slit Pea and Ham Soup

2 1/2 cups dried split peas
8 cups water
1 large onion
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1/4 tsp Pepper, Black
3 lbs ham
3 medium carrots
2 cloves garlic

Recipe Directions for Slit Pea and Ham Soup

  1. Heat peas and water to boiling. Boil uncovered for 2 minutes, remove from heat. Cover and let stand 30 minutes.

  2. Stir in onion,celery, pepper, ham, carrots and garlic. Heat to boiling,reduce heat to low, Cover and simmer about to desired soup consistency.
