Recipe Ingredients for Slimmer Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoons salt
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons margarine, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large egg whites
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Recipe Directions for Slimmer Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease baking sheets.

  2. Microwave 1 cup morsels in small, microwave-safe bowl on high for 1 minute, stir. Microwave at additional 10 to 20 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Beat sugar, margarine, and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl. Beat in melted chocolate and egg whites. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with water. Stir in remaining morsels. Cover. Refrigerate until firm.

  4. Shape dough into 1 ? balls. Roll in powdered sugar to coat generously. Place on prepared baking sheets.

  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until sides are set but centers are still slightly soft. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack.
