Sirloin Burger with Mushrooms, Swiss, and Balsamic Mayo

Recipe Ingredients for Sirloin Burgers with Mushrooms, Rachel Ray

1 1/2 tbs olive oil
3 tbs yellow onion
1 1/2 lb lean Ground beef
1 tbs worcestershire sauce
1/2 tbs steak seasoning
4 whole wheat rolls
12 mushrooms
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4 slices swiss cheese
3 tbs balsamic vinegar
1/2 c mayonnaise
4 leaves romaine lettuce
2 scallions

Recipe Directions for Sirloin Burgers with Mushrooms, Rachel Ray

  1. Preheat grill pan or large nonstick skillet for burgers over medium-high heat. In a small nonstick skillet over moderate heat, saute chopped onion in a drizzle olive oil for 2 or 3 min. Set aside

  2. In a medium bowl, combine meat with Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning blend or salt and pepper. Mix in sauteed onion and form into 4 large patties. Drizzle patties with a touch of olive oil. Quick toast your split rolls on the hot grill pan or skillet and set aside. Add burgers to hot pan or skillet and grill 4-5 min each side for medium burgers.

  3. Return small skillet to sove orver medium-high heat. add 1 tbs olive oil and sliced mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper, then saute until just tender, about 3-5 min. Remove from heat.

  4. Pile mushrooms on top of burgers just before you are ready to take them off the grill. Fold each slice of swiss cheese in hafl and rest on top of mushrooms. Place a losse tin foil tent over the burgers and turn heat off. Allow the cheese to melt down over mushrooms and burgers, about 2-3 min.

  5. Combine balsamic vinegar, mayo, and lots of coarsely ground or cracked black pepper in a small dish.

  6. To assemble, place burgers topped with mushrooms and Swiss cheese on bottom. Slather tops of buns with balsamic, black pepper, mayo and add romaine. Set burger tops in place and add scallions.
