Super-d-duper delicious tomato sauce. Not so good for you, but worth the periodic splurge.

Recipe Ingredients for Simple Tomato Sauce with Onion and Butter

28 oz Tomatoes Whole Peeled
5 tbsp Butter
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions

Recipe Directions for Simple Tomato Sauce with Onion and Butter

  1. Put tomatoes, onion and butter in a (smallish) heavy saucepan.

  2. Bring to boil over medium heat.

  3. Reduce to simmer for 45 minutes.

  4. Stir occasionally, crushing the tomatoes against the side of the pot with a spoon.

  5. Remove from heat, discard the onion, and add salt if necessary.

  6. Serve on hot pasta or spaghetti squash.
