A quick and easy recipe to throw in the slow cooker.

Recipe Ingredients for Simon's simple stew

500 grams Beef, Flank
5 carrot Carrots
1 parsnip (9" long) Parsnips
2 small Onions
2 Cube Stock Cubes
1200 grams Water
40 grams Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
3 teaspoon Oil vegetable

Recipe Directions for Simon's simple stew

Roughly chop the onions and fry them in a little of the oil until they are soft. Put the onions in a bowl to one side. Chop the beef into bite sized pieces. Season the flour with salt and pepper to taste. Roll the beef in the seasoned flour and them brown it in the frying pan. Put the browned meat to one side in another bowl. Peel the vegetables and chop them into bite sized pieces. Add them meat onions and vegetables to the slow cooker in layers. I find it best to put the parsnip at the bottom because they can be quite woody. Make up some stock using the stock cubes and the water. Add the flour to the frying pan you fried the meat in, and stir it around. Use the stock to wash the flour into the slow cooker. Set the slow cooker to cook it for the required time. (See the guidelines for your own slow cooker.)
