Add vinegar and sesame oil to each bowl individually. Spoon in soup and top with scallions.

Recipe Ingredients for Sick Day Hot and Sour Soup

8 oz chicken tenders
14 oz chicken broth
1 c mushrooms
1 egg
1/2 c scallions
3 T white wine vinegar
3 T soy sauce
1 T hot chili sauce
2 T cornstarch
1 t sesame oil

Recipe Directions for Sick Day Hot and Sour Soup

  1. coat chicken tenders with garlic powder, chinese five spice, cumin, cayenne, salt and pepper. Cook in a few inches of water 20 minutes or until cooked through.

  2. Add chicken broth and water to a large pot. Bring to a boil and add shredded chicken and sliced mushrooms. Add soy sauce to taste.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes. Add cornstarch to a bit of water to dissolve. Return soup to boil and add cornstarch slowly to thicken.

  4. Beat egg and add slowly to boiling soup, pulling through with a fork to make shreds.

  5. Add vinegar and sesame oil to serving bowl. Spoon in soup and top with scallions.
