Recipe Ingredients for Shrimp - Sesame-Orange

3 tbsp. sesame seeds, (white or black or mixed)
2 large egg whites
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 pound peeled and deveined raw shrimp (21-25 per pound)
2 tbsp. olive oil, divided
3/4 cup orange juice
2 oz or 1/4 cup dry sherry
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1 scallion, thinly sliced

Recipe Directions for Shrimp - Sesame-Orange

  1. Wisk sesame seeds, egg whites, cornstarch, salt & pepper in a large bowl. Add shrimp and toss to coat.

  2. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Trasfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain.

  3. Add orange juice, sherry, soy sauce and sugar to pan. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and reduced by half, 4 to 6 minutes.

  4. Return shrimp to pan and stir to coat with sauce. Serve immediately with scallion sprinkled on top.

  5. Serving = 5 to 6 shrimp
