Shrimp Gumbo Recipe

stovetop 1 T fili powder would not compute in recipe- stir in with shrimp. 1 bay leaf would not compute- stir in with ingredients

Recipe Ingredients for SHRIMP GUMBO

2 T margarine
2 cloves garlic, finely shopped
2 onions, sliced
1/2 green pepper, thinly sliced
3 cups beef broth
1 T worcestershire sauce
1 t salt
1 t chili powder
1/2 t dried basil
1/4 t pepper
10 oz frozen okra
16 oz can tomatoes, undrained
6 oz tomato paste
1 1/2 lb shrimp, uncooked, peeled & thawed
4 cups cooked rice, hot

Recipe Directions for SHRIMP GUMBO

Melt margarine in dutch oven over medium heat. Cook garlic, onions, & bell pepper in margarine 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender. Stir in remaining ingredients except shrimp, file powder, & rice, breaking up tomatoes. Heat too boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered 45 minutes. Stir in shrimp. Cover & simmer about 5 minutes or until shrimp are pink and firm; remove from heat. Remove bay leaf: stir in file powder. Serve with rice.
