This recipe may be a big mistake. I took another and substituted stuff to get the calories down... and then reduced the recipe to fit 4 people??? I'll remove it if it is a loser.

Recipe Ingredients for shortcake for strawberries

1 cup white whole-wheat flour, or whole-wheat pastry flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons Neufchâtel
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 cup egg beaters
1 tablespoon nonfat buttermilk

Recipe Directions for shortcake for strawberries

preheat the oven to 400 -- spray a baking sheet with cooking spray... mix all the dry ingredients together... then mix all the wet ones together... then combine till everything is moist. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Dust with flour and roll into rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the edges square using a butter knife. Cut the dough into 4 equal shortcakes. Transfer to a baking sheet. Bake approximately 20 minutes. Split the cakes and top with strawberries and fat free whipped topping. Calories for strawberries and topping not included in the analysis.
