Recipe Ingredients for shortbread cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for shortbread cookies

  1. beat butter until fluffy.

  2. Add sugar.

  3. Add vanilla

  4. Combine flour and salt.

  5. Add gradually to butter/sugar mixture.

  6. Combine until blended (I used my hands).

  7. shape into disc and wrap in plastic wrap. refrigerate at least an hour. Roll out on a lightly floured surface until around 1/4 inch thick. Cut out shapes and put them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate 10 minutes so that the cookies hold their shape.

  8. Bake at 350F for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on racks.

  9. Makes around 24 cookies.
