Recipe Ingredients for Shortbread Cookies

3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 pinch of salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp

Recipe Directions for Shortbread Cookies

  1. Combine the flour, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.

  2. Work in the butter with a fork or a pastry knife until the dough has the consistency of short crust.

  3. Sprinkle a cutting board with flour and knead the dough until smooth.

  4. Refrigerate the dough a few hours or overnight.

  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  6. Place small rounds of dough on parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Squish with a fork or spoon and decorate with sprinkles if you like.

  7. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the cookies start to brown. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet before removing.
