Tasty and healthy whole meal in one dish

Recipe Ingredients for Sheppard pie

454 g lean ground beef
5 medium russet potatoes, boiled
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup onion,chopped
2 cloves garlic,chopped
2 tbsp barbecue sauce
20 g spinach,frozen
1 tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tsp oil

Recipe Directions for Sheppard pie

  1. Sautee chopped onions and garlic in 1 tsp of oil

  2. When translucent and fragrant, add ground beef and sautee until the beef is cooked

  3. Add barbecue sauce and frozen spinach and cook until spinach is thawed (you can also add fresh spinach if you like)

  4. Season to taste (salt, pepper, paprika, parsley are my suggestions)

  5. In another pot boil 5 medium russet potatoes and when soft inside, peel them and make mashed potatoes using 1/3 cup of buttermilk. Also season to taste

  6. In casserole dish put ground beef mixture in the bottom, and mashed potatoes mixture on top

  7. Sprinkle with a tablespoon of parmesan cheese and put in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes or when you get the nice golden crust on top of the pie
