Easy shepherds pie made with ground beef.

Recipe Ingredients for Shepherds Pie

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup beef broth
8 oz tomato sauce
15 oz canned kidney beans
8 1/2 oz canned peas
1/2 cup frozen corn
1 tbs ketchup
2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp onion powder
3 cups instant mashed potatoes
2 tbs parmesan cheese, optional

Recipe Directions for Shepherds Pie

  1. Brown ground beef & drain grease, rinse ground beef to remove excess grease. Return to pan. Add beef broth, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder & onion powder. (You can adjust quantity of spices to suit your taste, or add additional spices.) Stir well & heat to a simmer; add frozen corn, peas & kidney beans & keep on low heat. (If the sauce appears too thin, simmer until liquid boils down.)

  2. Make instant potatoes in microwave. Put beef mix into oven safe bowl or crock. Mound potatoes on meat mixture. Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees 30 minutes or until potatoes & cheese brown slightly, and you can see the sauce simmering up to the potatoes.

  3. You can add some parmesan cheese or shredded cheese on top of potatoes before baking, but it will increase the calories per serving.
