Better-for-you crackers. This makes about 120 crackers; it depends on how thin you roll them out. One serving is about 6 crackers if you do it to that thinness. You can add a sprinkle of salt on top if you wish. You'll have to brush the tops with milk or something first, to get it to stick.

Recipe Ingredients for Sesame whole wheat crackers

2 c whole wheat flour
2/3 c sesame seeds
1/3 c oatmeal
1 t baking soda
1 T sugar
1/2 t salt
5 T butter, cut in bits
2 t apple cider vinegar
3/4 c water

Recipe Directions for Sesame whole wheat crackers

  1. In large bowl, mix dry ingredients.

  2. Cut or rub in butter until like cornmeal texture. Make a slight depression in the mixture.

  3. Add vinegar and water into the depression. (It's not actually 3/4 cup of water; put the vinegar in the cup, then add water to make 3/4 c.) Using hands, bring flour over and mix into the liquids. Keep mixing and kneading until all of the flour mixture is incorporated and it cleans the sides of the bowl. Knead about 15-30 seconds longer, to make sure it's all mixed well.

  4. Roll out as thin as possible on a lightly floured board. Cut with pizza cutter or pastry cutter to 1" x 3" rectangles. Transfer to ungreased baking sheet.

  5. Bake at 400* F. for 8-12 minutes. If your pans are dark, 8 minutes will probably be enough. Otherwise, 10 is most likely needed, or 12 if they are thicker.

  6. Transfer to wire racks, cool.
