Sesame Tofu Recipe

Tofu with a sweet sesame sauce - like what you would get in a standard Chinese restaurant.

Recipe Ingredients for Sesame tofu

14 oz. tofu
3/4 lb. asparagus
1 yellow bell pepper
5 tbsp. sesame oil

Sauce:
6 tbsp. soy sauce
2/3 c honey
5 cloves garlic
3 tbsp chopped fresh ginger
3 tbsp. sesame oil
3 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp corn starch
3 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 1/2 c rice

Recipe Directions for Sesame tofu

  1. Drain tofu.

  2. Chop pepper and asparagus into bite-sized pieces, then saute with 1 tbsp. sesame oil in a large skillet. Meanwhile, cook the rice.

  3. Combine sauce ingredients.

  4. When vegetables are done cooking, transfer them to a large bowl. In same pan, add remainder of sesame oil. Add tofu, and fry over high heat until golden.

  5. While cooking tofu, cook sauce ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and keep warm until tofu is done cooking.

  6. When tofu is done, add it to the bowl with the vegetables. Pour sauce in and toss to cover. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve over rice.
