Makes 24 servings

Like halva, but with mostly whole seeds instead of ground. Like sesame brittle, only chewy instead of brittle. It's most similar to the Grecian sweet named pasteli.

Recipe Ingredients for Sesame sweet

1 tbs. sesame oil
1 1/2 cups sesame seeds
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp. rose water

Recipe Directions for Sesame sweet

  1. Heat the oil in a wide-bottomed pan or wok. Add the sesame seeds and stir until coated with oil. Fry over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes, until the seeds are toasted a light brown.

  2. Add the tahini and stir well.

  3. Add the honey and stir until it stops bubbling.

  4. Press into a buttered 9"x9" baking pan. Let it set in a cool place for an hour. Slice into bars 1" by 2". Makes 24 bars.
