An easy version of the vegan staple! (Vegan)

Recipe Ingredients for Seitan

125 g (1 c.) vital wheat gluten
3 tbsp. nutritional yeast
1 tsp. thyme
1/4 c. shoyu
1 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable broth

Recipe Directions for Seitan

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Mix gluten, nutritional yeast, and thyme in a bowl.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix water, stock, shoyu, and oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients evenly and stir to make a ball of gluten. Knead for a few minutes and dab off any excess moisture with a paper towel.

  3. Form the gluten into a cylinder, then cut into strips or rounds. Place cut seitan on an oiled cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes, flip, and bake an additional 4 minutes.
