Recipe Ingredients for Scottish Oatmeal Scones

1 1/4 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup
1/4 cup butter
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup raisins
1/3 cup
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Recipe Directions for Scottish Oatmeal Scones

  1. Sift together dry ingredients.

  2. Cut in the shortening and butter, to coarse crumbs.

  3. Mix in the oats and raisins.

  4. Add the milk and mix with a fork just until the dry ingredients are moistened.

  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 5 or 6 times. Pat or roll out to form a 7-inch circle. Brush the surface with melted butter. Cut into 6 wedges and lay out on an ungreased cookie sheet.

  6. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
