Recipe Ingredients for Scottish Oat Scones

60 g all purpose flour
50 g rolled oats
15 g white sugar
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
20 g dried cranberries
1/2 large egg or 1 small egg, beaten
35 g butter, melted
20 ml milk

Recipe Directions for Scottish Oat Scones

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 425F(220C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  2. 2. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, oats, baking powder, salt and currants/raisins/cranberries. Make a well in the center; set aside.

  3. 3. In a small bowl, beat egg and sugar mixture until frothy, and stir in butter and milk. Pour into the well, and mix to create a soft dough.

  4. 4. Divide dough into 4-5 pieces and pat into 1/2 inch thick circles. Place on the prepared baking sheet/pan.

  5. 5. Bake 12-15 minutes in the preheated oven, until risen and browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
