Makes 4 small servings, 2 large. Can be used with basically any whiskey or scotch, we used Johnny Walker Red Label. Also, the syrup we used was a homemade citrus-tamarind syrup, orange syrup is the closest approximation calorie-wise.

Recipe Ingredients for Scotch 5-Spice Citrus Bananas

2 medium (7" to 7-7/8" long) Bananas
1/2 tbsp Butter
1/6 tsp Chinese Five Spice Blend Grinder
1 oz Whiskey
1 oz Orange Syrup
0.06 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Unbleached

Recipe Directions for Scotch 5-Spice Citrus Bananas

  1. Cut the bananas along the bias, 1/2" thick.

  2. Melt butter, mix in spices.

  3. Sautee bananas to brown on one side.

  4. Add liquor and citrus syrup.

  5. Continue sauteeing until liquids are reduced to jam.

  6. Serve banana slices with the jam on top.

  7. Goes great with buttermilk pancakes!
