Recipe Ingredients for scones

6 tbsp butter
1 3/4 cups flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp cream
1/4 cup currants
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for scones

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees

  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together (don't add salt with butter is salter)

  3. Add cold butter, cut into 1/2 inch pieces and combine with hands

  4. Add currants and orange peel

  5. Whisk cream and egg together

  6. Mix cream and egg mixture with flour mixture using hands

  7. Form two disks with dough; equal size

  8. Cut each disk into six pieces and place on cookie sheet; brush cream on top

  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes
