Recipe Ingredients for scaruso steak and bean chili

12 ounces steak
15 ounce canned black beans
15 ounce canned kidney beans
1/4 cup jalapeno, chopped
35 ounce tomatoes, crushed, canned
4 cloves garlic
1 onion
1 bell pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cocoa
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp coriander
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup canned corn

Recipe Directions for scaruso steak and bean chili

  1. Fry 1 inch cubes of steak in 1 tsp oil til brown. Remove. Add 2 more tsp oil

  2. chop onion, fry in oil. Add all seasonings, fry until fragrant, add garlic and jalapeno, saute.

  3. Add tomatoes, and 1 cup water. cook for 1 hour, or until meat is tender. add beans, cook for another half hour. Add frozen corn.

  4. Shred beef with a fork, return to pot. Top each bowl with one ounce grated cheddar cheese.

  5. I would rather have a smaller portion of the real deal, but you could use a little more lo fat cheese.
