Scallopped sweet and regular potatoes, with gruyere

Recipe Ingredients for Scalloped sweet potatoes

3 Idaho potatoes, sliced
2 potatoes, sweet, sliced
4 tbl butter
1 leek, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
4 tbl flour
1 tsp salt, 1 tsp ground pepper
2 1/2 c buttermilk (1% fat)
2 cups shredded gruyere cheese

Recipe Directions for Scalloped sweet potatoes

  1. Peel and slice sweet & Idaho potatoes

  2. In large pot, boil together approx 15 min or until cheese sauce is ready

  3. In pan, sautee butter, leek, garlic

  4. Add flour and salt and pepper to make roux

  5. Add milk all at once, stirring

  6. Let sauce bubble & thicken

  7. Add shredded cheese and stir until melted

  8. Layer potato slices in bottom of greased 9 x13 casserole dish

  9. Pour 1/2 the cheese sauce over the potatoes

  10. Layer second layer of potatoes

  11. Pour on rest of sauce & scatter a little more cheese on top

  12. Bake at 350 for 1 hr
