Pie Crust for meat pies or base for flans etc .... 4 servings

Recipe Ingredients for Savoury Shortcrust Pastry

4 oz flour
2 oz butter
1 salt
1 water

Recipe Directions for Savoury Shortcrust Pastry

  1. Measure flour into a bowl or food mixer

  2. Add salt and any other seasonings required such as herbs for a quiche or a meat pie and mix into flour.

  3. Add chopped butter which has been kept in a fridge.

  4. Either rub the butter into the flour by hand or pulse mix in the food mixer. to a fine crumb texture

  5. Add sufficient water to bind the crumb mixture

  6. Place in fridge for 30 minutes to rest and then roll out to desired size/s and use according to your end product.

  7. Bake as normal for Short Crust Pastry.
