Recipe Ingredients for Savory Bread Pudding (Slow Cooker)

282 grams whole wheat bread, cubed
248 grams french bread, cubed
682 grams cauliflower, cooked, small florets
12 grams butter
252 grams onion, chopped
201 grams gruyere cheese, shredded
6 eggs
1 1/4 cup half and half
3/4 cup 1% milk
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon thyme

Recipe Directions for Savory Bread Pudding (Slow Cooker)

  1. Cut up the bread into cubes. Steam the cauliflower and cut into florets about the same size as the bread.

  2. Use some of the butter to rub into the slow cooker, and saute the onion in the remaining butter until translucent. Add the pepper, thyme, and some salt (optional). Toss with the bread cubes, then add the cauliflower and place in the slow cooker.

  3. Stir in the cheese.

  4. Beat the eggs lightly and add in the milk. Pour over the bread mixture, cover, and cook on the "low" setting for 4 to 5 hours until the custard is set (use a knife to check). Serve hot.
