A slightly different creamy and delicious soup for a cold winter's evening.

Recipe Ingredients for Savory Beer Cheese Soup

3 quart chicken stock
5 oz butter
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
8 oz cooked bacon, diced (you can also use ham)
5 oz flour
1/4 cup onion, finely diced
3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1 can beer
20 oz American cheese, shredded or cubed

Recipe Directions for Savory Beer Cheese Soup

  1. Melt butter in large pot; add flour and cook on low heat, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes.

  2. Stir in chicken stock and bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook on low for about 8 to 10 minutes. Stir constantly to prevent burning.

  3. Add onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, Tabasco and bacon and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes.

  4. Stir in cheese until completely melted.

  5. Add beer and cook for another 10 minutes on low heat, stirring frequently. Serve hot.
