A simple cold weather side dish. Slowly cook the cabbage to the degree you like, from hot but still crisp to soft and caramelized. I like mine very well-cooked.

Recipe Ingredients for Sauteed Red Cabbage

4 cup, chopped Cabbage, Red
1 oz Extra Light Olive Oil
3/4 tsp Salt, Table

Recipe Directions for Sauteed Red Cabbage

  1. Use a knife to cut cabbage into fine threads.

  2. Preheat a skillet or non-stick pan and add 2 tbsps of extra light olive oil or other mild flavored cooking oil.

  3. Add shredded cabbage and toss, letting the hot oil crisp some of the cabbage.

  4. Reduce heat to low and cook for another 10 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This is a matter of personal taste. I like it when the cabbage has caramelized a bit.

  5. Serve as a side dish to anything.
